Call for Submissions

Vector Festival 2024: Sensorium

Vector Festival and Sensorium invite current Sensorium Postdoc, Graduate, Faculty and Research Associate members to submit proposals to activate the Sensorium Flex Space exhibiting artistic work that explores the intersection of ecology and technology. Potential themes include:

  • Climate change
  • Disintegration, decomposition
  • Obsolete technology
  • Migration and/or weather patterns
  • Vector Festival 2024’s thematic, too fragile to hold, is developed by Miriam Arbus, and looks to explore the combined experiences of migrating species, weather patterns, geopolitical scrambling, and algorithmic data processing. We encourage artists to explore artworks that remind us that all is cosmic, symbiotic, interconnected, intersected and intertwined. All programming and artworks included in the festival are asked to respond to the festival thematic.

This program is co-presented with Sensorium.

Based in the School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design (AMPD) at York University, Sensorium is a research centre for creative inquiry and experimentation at the intersection of the media arts, performance, and digital culture. As a site for co-creation and shared critical reflection, Sensorium serves as a catalyst for examining how diverse media platforms enable multi-sensory perception and embodied experience, along with new modes of social engagement. Bridging disciplines and diverse communities, Sensorium researchers, artists, and scientists explore networked connections between people, sentient environments, and ecologies of place.
