Vector Festival 2024 Flagship Exhibition: too fragile to hold
Too fragile to hold
Too murky to see
A drop
A crack
A burned finger
A car with no driver
Dark water
doom impending
A foot sinks into dank bog
A thread
Refract
A note
A guardrail
Dissonance
  Mist coating surfaces
Slips through fingers
Flickers on eyelids
Soft forms
Beyond the edge of what
yearns for
The combined experiences of migrating species, weather patterns, geopolitical scrambling, and algorithmic data processing can also remind us that all is cosmic, symbiotic, interconnected, intersected and intertwined. Grasping at the urgent inequities of our time and grappling with the paradoxical trajectory the world hurtles towards, amidst rigid systems, a precautious hopeful path is driven by new tech at a relentless pace where digital products promise solutions. Where searching for pathways to follow only unfurls cascading questions.
Will we follow the birds when the weather changes? How can we evolve beyond borders? Will the ocean currents steady? Are we but particles in a spatialised system? How do we move beyond the definitions that constrain our realities? Can we build vast and intricate bridges between each other, tangible and intangible?
For Vector 2024, we seek to immerse participants into embodied experiences where mutualisms might flourish and simultaneity resounds.* Mutualism----- where all species involved benefit from their interactions.
We invite artists working in new media to explore realms enabled by new and old tech, expanding Vector’s universe through new media artworks, installations, and interactive activations.
Vector Festival’s 2024 flagship exhibition is curated by Miriam Arbus.
