July 14th-17th, 2016
Autonomous Agents
Vector Festival is a participatory and community-oriented initiative dedicated to showcasing digital games and creative media practices. Presenting works across a dynamic range of exhibitions, screenings, performances, lectures, and workshops, Vector acts as a critical bridge between emergent digital platforms and new media art practice.
The theme of 2016’s edition of Vector Festival is Autonomous Agents. We focus our attention on the autonomous and the algorithmic: from robotic sound sculpture and algorithmic drawing machines to live virtual automata, Vector Festival presents works that explore new media as autonomous artistic agents.
Autonomous Agents was curated by Skot Deeming and Martin Zeilinger.
For 5 days, 23 artists and curators participated in our multi-venue programming, which included:
3 exhibitions
3 screenings
1 panel discussion
2 evenings of live performance, and
1 workshop.
