2016 Vector Festival

July 14th-17th, 2016
Autonomous Agents

Vector Festival is a participatory and community-oriented initiative dedicated to showcasing digital games and creative media practices. Presenting works across a dynamic range of exhibitions, screenings, performances, lectures, and workshops, Vector acts as a critical bridge between emergent digital platforms and new media art practice.

The theme of this year’s festival is Autonomous Agents. We focus our attention on the autonomous and the algorithmic: from robotic sound sculpture and algorithmic drawing machines to live virtual automata, Vector Festival presents works that explore new media as autonomous artistic agents.

Below is the complete festival calendar for the 2016 Festival.

Turn On, Plug In, Opt Out. Sometimes we all just need to hide away from the rest of the world. Does the bomb have to drop in order to imagine the end of Capitalism? Or is your parent’s basement the only safe place left? In a time and place awash in the detritus of early 21st Century capitalism, we look to our basement revolutionaries to lead us not upwards but downwards into a bunker of safety to wait it out. Duck and cover, and grab a snack…it may be your only way to survive. Curated by Amber Christensen and Clint Enns.
